The Host

Heidelberg Laureate Forum

A week of thorough scientific dialogue between the world's laureates and 200 young researchers — the model we build on.

Founded by Klaus Tschira to bridge mathematics and computer science, the Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation (HLFF) was established in 2013. Each year it brings the most distinguished mathematicians and computer scientists together with 200 young researchers from around the world for a week of in-depth exchange in Heidelberg.

Its power lies in an informal structure — laureates and rising scholars interact far beyond the podium. Funded by the Klaus Tschira Foundation, with HITS and Heidelberg University as research partners, and supported by the ACM, the IMU and the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.

Dr. Agnes Szmolenszky — Executive Director and Board Member of the HLFF. A biochemist by training, she previously led Science Education and Public Engagement at EMBL and directed the European Learning Laboratory for the Life Sciences, and was appointed to the HLFF board in April 2025.
